Montreal Canadiens defenseman Karl Alzner will make his season debut Wednesday against the St. Louis Blues after he was a healthy scratch for the first five games of the season, the team announced.

Alzner saw his 622-game iron-man streak come to a surprising end when he was held out of the lineup for the season opener. The steady blue-liner signed a five-year, $23.125-million contract with the Habs on July 1, 2017 after nine seasons with the Washington Capitals.

Victor Mete will be the odd man out on Montreal’s blue line Wednesday against the Blues.
