Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin

The first thing that’s really interesting about this Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin fight is the fact that Canelo really has nothing to lose if he fights Golovkin whereas Golovkin has everything to lose. Canelo will walk into the ring with a loss and draw on his resume where this is a must win fight for an aging Golovkin. If Canelo loses it will be a surprize but it won’t be a big surprize whereas if GGG loses the hype train is over for him.

Furthermore Canelo should get at the very least a 70 – 30 split for this fight. Golovkin vs. Lemieux did horrible numbers and Canelo has already in his young career has two super fights. Actually the argument could be made for an 80 – 20 split because if you ask me GGG a bona fide middleweight needs Canelo if he ever wants to be respect. GGG has beat in my opinion a bunch of nobodies and I personally see Golovkin as all hype.

My prediction for Gennady Golovkin vs. Canelo Alvarez

If GGG/Triple G fights “Mexican style.” boxing Canelo Alvarez will win and he’ll win for sure but if Gennady Golovkin mixes it up like he did against Lemieux I could see Gennady Golovkin winning on the score cards. Mayweather and Erislandy Lara gave Canelo trouble with their hit and not get hit style of boxing.

I can’t see anyone in the middleweight division beating Canelo if they stand toe to toe with him, because this is where Canelo is most comfortable, plus Canelo has a slight reach advantage over Golovkin and Golovkin is ONLY an Inch and half taller. What made Canelo struggle to hit Mayweather was Mayweather’s jab however in my opinion that Mayweather vs Canelo was a close fight I personally saw that fight ending in a draw. The only reason Mayweather got the win in my opinion was because that fight looked like all of Mayweather’s other fights. If Mayweather had been a nobody I could see that fight going in Canelo’s favor.

How Triple G would beat Canelo

If GGG doesn’t fight Mexican style he’ll have a better chance, but Gennady Golovkin’s value will diminish drastically. This is why I see Canelo the victor whether he wins or not. If Gennady Golovkin stands toe to toe with Canelo Alvarez and knocks him out. I’ll give credit where credit is due but… I don’t see that happening I see Triple G being really strategic in this fight and I think it will piss off Mexican fans and boxing fans in general.

If you can watch Canelo Alvarez fights and watch Gennady Golovkin fights. Gennady Golovkin is always available to get hit when he stands toe to toe with his opponents. Canelo is not always available to get hit when he stands toe to toe! Canelo with the exception of Lara and Mayweather engages to open his opponent up to getting hit. Golovkin will be available to get hit every single time especially if Golovkin chooses to fight toe to toe. Canelo is a master of making his opponent miss punches when he’s engaging, Canelo has been fighting that way his entire career against top level competition. Golovkin fights that way also but Golovkin to date has fought a punch of nobodies.

Also if you notice Canelo can take a punch, can he take a Triple G punch? We’ll just have to see about that but… Canelo has been stunned before and he’s rebounded quite nicely and again Canelo has been fighting “mexican style” since he was 16 years old. Canelo’s first professional draw came against an experienced veteran in which Canelo still fought “Mexican style” If you want to make it out of Mexico you have to put on entertaining fights which is why if this is a toe to toe fight I have Canelo winning. Will Golovkin catch Canelo a few times? I can imagine he will but I can’t see Gennady Golovkin beating Canelo fighting “Mexican Style” which is why I think if GGG wins it will happen via the score cards. If Golovkin wins via the scorecards I don’t see his career taking off.

If Triple G beats Canelo he has to do it with a K.O or TKO because remember Canelo is coming in the ring as the smaller man, so really Canelo has less to lose. Personally I think Canelo could embarrass Triple G why??? Because Canelo MAKES ADJUSTMENTS! I’ve never seen Golovkin make adjustments, the only reason Canelo’s adjustments didn’t work against Mayweather was because Mayweather refused to engage. Gennady Golovkin in my opinion doesn’t have the same discipline as Mayweather and being that Golovkin has stated that he likes to fight Mexican style I think Golovkin will be the perfect fight for Canelo to cement his legacy. The fight picture I see is Canelo vs. Shane Mosley I think Golovkin vs Canelo will look very similar except I think Golovkin will have more punching power which Canelo like he always does will adapt too and then begin to dominate GGG thereafter.

Canelo wins! unless Triple G fights only to win on the scorecards! I would be very surprised if Triple G knocked out Canelo!
