When we hear the word “Ford”, adjectives “high-class and trustworthy” are our first descriptions to this amazing automobile brand. For thirteen years, the Ford Company has been the number supplier of small cars, such as Ford Fiesta, Focus and C-MAX, with its 35,851 sales in the United States and 39 percent increase among the other brands. The beauty and efficiency of its small cars served as one of the reasons for 42 percent group’s growth in North America in the year 2008.
One of the leading companies committed to high-quality service through vehicle production and distribution is Ford. We, consumers, are knowledgeable about its small and amazing cars such as Fiesta, Focus and C-MAX as well as their unique features. However, there are certain drawbacks that no one has wished for or even wanted in the first place. These built-in disadvantages might include long warm-up time, episodes of vehicle overheat, inability of the car to travel in rocky roads, the need for vehicle check and tune-ups and high-consumption of fuel.
The above disadvantages are the main reasons why Ford Hybrids, including the 2013 models of Ford are soon to launch with an enhanced features and systems. According to Raj Nair, the vice president of the international product development, client’s attention and strong acceptance with the innovations were the keys to achieve higher Ford vehicle sales. Their plan was based from the recent statistics and sale records of C-MAX buyers and results showed that almost 64 percent of the consumers were non-Ford brands in June while the remaining percentage might under non-vehicle clients.
Vehicle calibration updates have been started in August 2013 with the following features: increased maximum pure electric speed to 85 mph from 62 mph, optimized climate control system to minimize the use of air-conditioning compressor and reduced the energy consumption during cold weather, shortened engine warm-up time by 50 percent to enable electric driving, enhanced the use of Active Grille Shutters to minimize aerodynamic drag under driving and temperature settings including cold weather, during higher engine coolant temperature and air-conditioner use, decreased the use of electric fan speed as a function of coolant temperature to reduce the consumption of energy.
Calibration updates to Ford models include enhancement of the control systems for driving conditions on the highway, during short journeys and while using the control features. According to the automobile maker, the lists of improvements were the following: increased maximum electric speed to 85 mph from 62 mph, reduced electric fan speed as a function of coolant temperature to decrease the consumption of energy, optimized use of Active Grille Shutters to reduce aerodynamic drag under cold and hot weather, shortened engine warm-up time by up to 50 percent to allow driving and engine shut down a stops sooner after cold starts and improved climate control system to minimize the use of air-conditioning compressor and lessen the energy used in cold weather operation.
More optimistic views include predictions that hybrids would dominate new car sales in the the industrialized sectors of Canada,USA & northern Europe. Another approach examines the penetration rates of four analogs to hybrid and electrical vehicles in an attempt to gauge how quickly the vehicle stock could be hybridized and/or electrified in the USA.
