Let’s talk about tariffs in two verticals. Number one, Trump is looking all around the world, including Canada, and looking for an imbalance in tariffs.That’s just making a level playing field.
The Canadian situation is different. I think what’s going on there is a renegotiation of NAFTA. The reason 70% of aluminum imports into the US comes from Canada is Canada has the cheapest power in North America. You need a lot of electricity to make aluminum. So that’s really a discussion about an integration of the economies that’s beginning. The premiers like Doug Ford in Ontario and Danielle Smith, are talking with their counterparts like Doug Burgum and Howard Lutnick, So there’s stuff going on here, but the economic union is the prize.
