This week on the Awards Tour podcast, Rotten Tomatoes Awards Editor Jacqueline Coley chats with poet, comedian, author, and screenwriter Tim Key about his new project ‘The Ballad of Wallis Island.’ The film, which is based on the BAFTA-nominated short film ‘The One and Only Herb McGwyer Plays Wallis Island’ written and starring Key from 17 years prior, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year to rave reviews. You can also catch Key in the sci-fi black comedy ‘Mickey 17’ alongside Robert Pattinson.
Listen in as Key talks about the process of adapting a short film into a feature, what it was like working alongside Oscar-nominated actress Carey Mulligan, and the subtle differences between being on the set of the indie-darling ‘Wallis Island’ and the big-budget ‘Mickey 17’ directed by Bong Joon Ho. Check out ‘The Ballad of Wallis Island’ in theaters now, and we’ll see you on the next stop on the Awards Tour.
